Wood Wire Wisdom
This is Me Now
Embracing Love, Nature and Technology for Healing
Lately, I’m inspired to write it all down and start sharing with the world as part of my healing. My personal healing involved my interaction with the earth itself. I call myself an amateur geologist because of my incessant curiosity about every shape, growth, or anomaly on and in the planet. I gained health from the crystals and gems to the mountains and valleys that yield them, to the oceans and rivers, to the grass, flowers, herbs made into their essential oils, and to the mighty ancient trees who reflected back to me a string of adjectives or descriptions which compared to my own spirit, and, I’m quite sure, can resonate with everyone’s spirit!
My interest grew when I started learning that many “mountains” of the earth were possibly giant tree stumps. I can’t unsee it now, for they’re everywhere. When I imagined what it could’ve looked like with miles-high and wide “Life Trees,” I started to see the earth as a giant seed, and inside the planet would be filled with the roots and subsequent caverns and formations. I can stare at scenery for hours pondering.
The mighty trunks and boughs are strong, flexible, and adaptable, much like the resilient human spirit. Just as they weather storms, stand still under clear skies, or flail violently in heavy winds, we, too, face the ever-changing rhythms of life. We want to stand rooted in our values, yet it’s good for us to be flexible enough to bend when the winds of change demand it, learning to adjust, holding fast to what matters most, staying grounded. It took me to get completely sober, on my own, no program, sheer will and strength, and Grace of course, so I could be a guide, a help, and of service to my family and, in my perfect dream, to everyone on the planet. I gathered much insight and knowledge in my 56 years, through a narcissistic relationship, alcoholism, addictions, abuse, betrayal, childhood trauma, but also from having a fabulous life full of travel and fun experiences. My life has been the very definition of paradoxical world. So, at this point in life, it’s time to share it. Sharing my stories will be like a journaling experience, a healthy outlet and expression, which will include connectedness, friendship, uplifting spirits, and a chance for me to help as many people benefit from my experiences as will read this post! Ha ha.
Trees are a shelter, a home, and a source of warmth, reminding us of the importance of connection and community. I spent a while in isolation, beginning in the pandemic, but also from a narcissistic relationship which left me so broken and lonely, and when folks were getting back together, I didn’t have anyone to get back with. All of that blessing in disguise sent me on a path of making myself into the best version, so when I would eventually emerge from my cocoon, I would be clear and present and available. I’m a work in progress! And! If I can transmute all the pain and betrayal, neglect and abuse, addiction and struggle, so can you!
From ancient forests to raw saplings, wood carries the scent of rain and earth, bearing fruit in due season as we also bear fruit through our kindness, creativity, and compassion. Planting our seeds in fertile soil, it is seasoned and durable, having weathered many cycles, gathering wisdom from every challenge and triumph that seasons us. Above all, the trees and the strength of their wood teach us the balance between stillness and motion, between being soft and standing firm. It is old yet continues to grow, it is young and able to be formed, reminding us that no matter how long we have lived, we can still bloom, and bear fruit.
It is not only the earth and trees, but just the opposite, having a profound effect on my path to wholeness. The manufactured miracle of technology, the mystery of electronics and wire. Wire is electric, alive with the quiet hum of energy, much like the spirit that moves within us. It conducts power invisibly, reminding us that we, too, carry an invisible energy, a power, which is our own light that can comfort a friend, or spark new ideas, bring peace and wellness. As above, so below, as without, so within.
Wire is a lifeline of communication and connection, allowing voices to travel across distances, much as we reach across time and space with our words, stories, and kindness to those we love. In my recent experience, it was YouTube and the power of the information I was receiving from wonderful people who took their time and resources to enlighten and serve their fellow humans. Like wire, we hold the potential to illuminate the dark corners of the world and bring warmth where it is needed most.
Wire carries music, knowledge, and entertainment, serving as a conduit for beauty, laughter, and learning that meant everything to me during a lonely period when I didn’t have people nearby. It is technology’s silent partner, enabling the transportation of ideas and dreams, just like we carry and share our stories to inspire and guide one another. Within the smallest thread of wire the power flows to connect people, as we hold the power within us to connect hearts, build bridges, and create networks of support and encouragement. We, too, learn to bend without breaking, to tether ourselves to what matters, and to interlace our strengths with others to build something enduring. My journey has brought me here to reconnect me, yet even farther out into the world, to build this blog to endure, and be a shining light like others were for me. We are like wire, designed to carry energy, share music, spark creativity, and sustain communication, lighting the pathways for ourselves and for others. In the end, wire is a reminder that we are here to connect, to carry light, and to power the world with the gifts we hold within.
This discourse now brings me to the most important way I researched my healing process. Wisdom is more than knowledge; it is the understanding that grows through time and experience, the kind that cannot be rushed or faked. It is passed down through teachings and stories, etched in writings, and whispered in conversations under quiet stars, but in combination, it also comes from trying and failing and ultimately partaking in the work and effort to go within yourself, and humbly grow from the things that didn’t kill you. Wisdom carries the fear of God, not in trembling, but in reverence for the vastness of life and the responsibility to live it well. It teaches us to slow down and listen, to gather insight from the lessons that come wrapped in everyday moments, and to hold space for the sacred in the ordinary. Wisdom is a thread that interlaces generations, a quiet conversation between ancestors and descendants, urging us to live with intention. It is not loud or boastful but carries a quiet authority that comes from having seen storms and sunshine and learning from both. One goal on my journey here is to heal the generational wounds or curses for my daughter and the future generations.
Above all, wisdom calls us to live in alignment with who we truly are, to let our words and actions reflect the values we hold dear. It reminds us that while knowledge fills the mind, wisdom fills the heart and comes from our own internal spirit, through our intuition, and informs our steps with grace and integrity. It is a compass that does not fail, even when the world feels uncertain, reminding us that there is always light to follow and a way forward rooted in truth. A very ancient book I was reading said, “give them a garland instead of ashes, gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit.” My goal of this blog is to inspire, connect, add love and light to the world, and share.
Thank you for reading!
Love, Melissa
